Here we go!!! First revamped blog post. Exciting! So, one of the stories I followed on my other blog was the Spider-Man reboot. Quick refresher, production on Spider-Man 4 came to a halt after the studio couldn't come up with a proper script. So the cast/Sam Raimi walked and Sony announced plans for a full reboot. Why now instead of, ohhh, 10-15 years from now when films 1-3 have a chance to fade from the pop-culture lens, who knows? But, Sony and new/former music video director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) are going full steam ahead and are currently looking for a new Peter Parker! Basically every name in Hollywood under 25 has been thrown around including the beastly Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson and the Olympians)**** but Slashfilm uncovered a new shortlist today! The front-runners are:
Jamie Bell (too old in my opinion, but an interesting choice otherwise)
Andrew Garfield (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus)
Alden Ehrenhreich (that last name was a bitch to me) Who'd like to tell me who this guy is? Anyone?
Frank Dillane (teenage Tom Riddle in HBP)
and the always-welcome-in-my-life/jailbait/I mean wut?? Josh Hutcherson (It was way too hard to find a non-douchey post-puberty picture)
Okay, so what are our thoughts? Any preferences? Did the Tom Riddle picture make you giggle as much as I did?? I think it's the soft-focus...
Or are we just against this whole venture? For those of you who are (like me) let's just get out our 500 Days of Summer DVDs and wait for our very own Joseph Gordon-Levitt to sashay into our lives. Animated bird and all...
**** The only problem I have with Logan Lerman is the fact that he starred in that Percy Jackson disaster. Get out of here with that mess!! #HPftw
It's been a loooooooooooooong time, hasn't it? K, so this summer I'm planning on starting Sassy again, and I know I've said this many times before, but I'm going to try real hard to make it stick this time. I'd like to take this time to comment on some changes Sassy'll be going through over the next few weeks....
I spent this last semester posting blogs on a different/CSULB private account. I meant to copy/paste them here, but I was lazy. lulz. Anywayyy, it was suggested by my professor and the Journalism Day Panel ~ooh la la~ that we continue blogging on our "beats" (mine was movies, shockingly enough) so that potential internship people/future employers can see that we know how to 1) follow a beat 2) post on a regular schedule and 3) write coherent sentences. I did all 3 very well I might say (100% on my semester-long blog holla holla) and I figured it was because I had so much ~experience writing here on Sassy. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that from now on Sassy will be less about my life and things I like and more about movie stuff such as trailers/casting/box office, etc. Sad, I know, but I'll try to throw in some personal stuff every now and then, too. It shouldn't be too bad. My own ~sassy voice will remain intact and there will be plenty of tildes to go around. ~~~~~!! Sound good?
Hey, y'allz! With 2009 coming to an end, it's time to count down my favorite pop culture moments, people, movies, songs and ethnicities of 2009! Yey!!! Let's go!
9. I Love The Hangover!
I LOVE movies. I live for them! Sadly, though, this year's crop haven't done much for me. Except these two!!
I think I Love You, Man flew a bit under people's radar. Sucks for them! These movie is geeeeeeeeeeenius and gets better with every viewing. Behold! (Samberg alert) the trailer.
Those fish tacos are the tits, Joben.
The Hangover flew under absolutely no one's radar. Behold! the trailer.
And the world would never be the same.
8. David After Dentist!
I swear to you all, I invented this video.
A+
7. Angry Youtube Rants!
Why Christian Bale's people aren't campaigning for a Best Actor nom, I'll never know. This is the most emotional I've ever heard him, and he did it all in while in character!! Cheers.
And then there's this guy. While I have trouble believing someone could truly get this upset over some stranger bitch attacking Beyonce, I can't help but appreciate his commitment. You go, coco.
Perfection, thy name is....whatever this guy's name is.
6. KANYE!!!!!
Ok. It was rude. I get it. But, can we just put our feelings aside to admire the GENIUS work of Mr. West, here. I mean, he effortlessly turned himself into one of 2009's greatest pop culture villains (aside from Crizz Brown and possibly Jon Gosselin), BUT unlike those two, he didn't actually hurt anyone/damn 8 children to a life of therapy and/or drugs and/or sexual ~indescretions, which will ultimately make his return that much sweeter. Plus, that shoulder shrug is HILARIOUS.
Asians were so in this year (for me)! I didn't start watching J&K+8 until after the Gosselin marriage went to crap, but thank jeebus it did! Alexis and Aaden are the lights of my life.
I hate Maddy by the way. BIG HATE.
Also,
You're welcome.
And of course,
ADORABLE! It's funny that I didn't love the Asians until AFTER Oxford. Can you imagine the shitstorm had I liked Asians in high school?? Good lord.
4. Glee!
This isn't really the best clip from Glee, but Hulu didn't have Dancing With Myself anymore (assholes) so I went with another Artie-heavy clip. It's still pretty good, though. Kurt's intensity. Finn's...dancing? And the token maybe-hot minorities dancing. A+ Glee, A+
3. SNL.
I realize that SNL isn't all that great anymore (like, at all) but there are still moments where I find it funny. Deal with it.
Easily the best Digital Short of the year. Thanks JT.
I also liked Shy Ronnie. I didn't think Rihanna could be funny, but her eh's are perfect here.
Also, this needs to be said. Kenan Thompson is the best thing about SNL right now. Maybe it's just me. It's probably just me, but, he was on Kenan and Kel. Soooo, take that as you will. hahaha. All I'm trying to say is I love What Up With That and no one can take that away from me.
Political wiiiiiill. Genius. Also Jason Sudeikis dancing in the background? Will you marry me?
Okay, first of all I am addicted. Second, there is a RIDICULOUS amount of man candy on this show. From Jin (see shirtless man in the asian post) to Sawyer to Faraday. Bahahaha. K, maybe not Faraday, but I am mildly attracted to him. And by mildly....yeah.
And don't forget post-island Sayid's luxurious weave.
LOLZ!
YAY!!!! That's it, guys! My favorite things about 2009. And with that, I say goodbye to 2009 and haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to 2010 (I wonder how many of these things will still be on the list next year). So leave me your comments my children. Anything I missed. What did you love this year? And stay tuned for my Top 10 of the DECADE list. Coming soon!
The other day my mom and I talked about movies. She said her favorite movie of the year was 500 Days of Summer. EXCELLENT choice. Such a great flick. But, as much as I loved it, it definitely wasn't my favorite of the year. Deep inside I knew only one film holds that special place in my heart. My favorite movie of the year (so far!!!) is DEFINITELY, EASILY:
Yeah. I feel kind of bad about this choice. But, there really wasn't anything else this year I'd consider a must-see. Granted, good movie season hasn't started yet, but I'm not all that excited for the films coming up. Maybe with the exception of Where the Wild Things Are and The Lovely Bones. I don't know. Maybe it's just too early. Although, I'm pretty sure I was hyped for Milk and Slumdog Millionaire this time last year. I COMPLETELY invented Slumdog Millionaire, by the way. And The Hangover. Just sayin.
So what are your favorite movies of 2009 (so far)?
I know there's still some time left, but I've been thinking about posting a top 10 list of my favorite events/people/things from 2009. Any suggestions? Here's a sampler of what you may see on my list this December:
Perhaps a collaboration from my favorite jew:
and my favorite ex-nsyncer:
Maybe one of these bad boys:
(Technically from '08, but it wasn't until this year that I felt the all-consuming fiery desire to own one)
So, on the off-chance I celebrate Halloween this year [a certain someone said she wouldn't go trick-or-treating with me (lookin at you, shwan)] I'll need help deciding what I want to be!!
It's between this guy:
It's all about that epic eye. And the hat. Milk included?
Alex is the epitome of Fashion!
Or this guy:
For obvious reasons to anyone who knows me.
I want to fly.
So, get in the poll and vote! Then tell me in the comments why you voted the way you did. I'm already leaning towards one, but maybe you can convince me otherwise.
